Heimir Bjarnason

Heimir made his first short film at the age of 10 and hasn’t stopped since. Upon graduating from Prague Film School in 2016, he started working in the Icelandic film industry.

His producing credits include feature film Redux, comedy series Flamingo Bar and the upcoming documentary feature film Dancing Lines.

Redux marked Heimir’s directorial feature debut. The film netted him two Edda Award nominations in 2023, for Best Director and Best Screenplay, making him the youngest person to achieve this feat. Heimir is hard at work on his next script and directs commercials and documentary series in the meantime.

Heimir is a notable editor and his resume includes projects like the Netflix comedy special Pardon My Icelandic, travel series Steinda Con, football docuseries Sisters’ Battle and the award-winning documentary series Storm, an unprecedented behind-the-scenes view of the Covid-19 pandemic in Iceland.
